I talk to myself alot. normal or no?

So for about the last 3 or so years, maybe more, I've been kind of talking to myself. Like full conversations with myself. I kind of imagine myself in a social situation (I am a lonely thinking type guy) and then I imagine what I would say. Allot of people do that, but then I imagine how they would respond, then how I would and over and over. I always say my dialog out loud and the other "person" dialog is usually in my head. I usually will go on for like 20 or 30 min of "monologue" if I don't catch myself. I also think out loud all the time. I just talk stuff out like someone would think something out, but I do it out loud to myself. It's very creepy looking from afar and I'm not coping so well with it, everyone at work thinks I'm very genuinely crazy, and I'm starting to think the same thing, so does anyone else do this? And more importantly should I see a professional, I'm not affluent (19 year old college student working through it) so a psychiatrist visit will cost me, but I just want to make sure I'm not overreacting to something normal.

This is a normal development but if you don't learn to control when and where you indulge this habit, you may not be able to find work long-term. Try to "stay with the now" by reminding yourself not to indulge in imaginary discussions. Many people revisit situations they wish had gone differently when they are talking to themselves - but it is best to learn to let go of those thoughts, since they do nothing for you but add stress. Try to restrict yourself to "self-talk" when you are actually alone and just focus on the task at hand or things you are planning to do when you are around other people.

Yes this is totally normal. You're building a personality with yourself. When I was little, I made up a friend called Laury, and I talk to her a lot even though she's just me talking to myself. But it makes you feel more comfortable, talking to yourself. So yes, this is definitely normal.

I do the exact same thing, but i live with my parents so most of the time this happens on my mind. Don't worry, it is normal to talk to yourself, well, to imaginary people by yourself.
If you are introvert and shy this is a normal behaviour because by having these conversations alone you "practise" your interactions with other people.
I have to ask something, these "people" who you have conversations with are people that you know in real life or not?

Totally normal, I do the same thing. Acting, debating, and political banter should come naturally to you.
