You sound just like my girlfriend. To break this down easier, I wouldn't worry about it.
Myself, I was in the same situation that you described and sure I still have feelings toward my ex, if only a little. The thing you have to realise is that you ARE NOT competing with her or anyone else.
He will not love you the same as her, but since he is with you and not her, is that a bad thing? He will love different things AND miss some of the good from his ex, it is just the way things are. Just make damn sure your good is good enough.
