I consider myself to be smart enough, but I've always had trouble with remembering which way is East and which way is West. I always have to think about it for a few seconds. Plus I mix them up a lot of times. I'll think for certain that one direction is East, and then later realise it's West.
Join the club most people have difficulties with directions but few would admit that. I solved this problem by associating the west with my left hand and the east with my right.
lol me 2, but only in english, in my language i dont mix them up for sum reason haha
The sun sets in the West. I live on the west coast so the sun sets over the ocean. That's how I remember.
My pop taught me the usefulness of mnemonic devices to remember stuff.
E.g., Visualize a compass, or map display of the cardinal directions.
Starting at the top with North, going clockwise:
Never Eat Slimy Worms
OR
Never Eat Soggy Waffles
AND my personal favorite
Nosy Elephants Spray Water
You get the gist. Another way to remember East and West, is to remember when facing North it spells WE on a compass, as in, "WE will remember the cardinal directions.
Same,people think I'm smart but I always have to think of the mnemonic for east and west, I also still use the hand thing to remember left and right
