I know what you mean. The type of people who can't be alone without going crazy. I'd say they might be more ignorant than weak because they don't know themselves very well, but that could be considered a weakness too.
I like independent people too though, they tend to be better friends because they like you for you, not just because you boost their ego. The people with tons of "friends" can be shallow and typically piss me off with their bullshit.
There are some people, though, who don't have many friends because they are so selfish, passive-aggressive and/or arrogant that people avoid them. So, people who don't have tons of friends aren't necessarily better friends than people with many friends.

You're right about people who choose to be lone wolfs. It's usually the people who don't want to be independent but are forced to because they put other people off with their behaviour. Of course I don't mean that all people who are unhappy with not having many friends are unlikeable. A lot are just shy for example.
