I totally know what ur talking about. Same thing happens to me. It's normally at night when I'm laying in bed to go to sleep. I hear a loud noise and I see these different black & white patterns. They can be block patterns or lines. Freaked me out at first. But I think it's kinda cool. So yes this is totally normal.
