I recognise everybody i see

I feel like I've met almost everybody I ever see.
Even at university in a different city I would recognise everybody and start contemplating asking them if they have ever been to my hometown.
Maybe it's some kind of trick?
I've never asked in case they think I'm a weirdo but is it normal for everybody to be so familiar?

There's a medical term for it: hyperfamiliarity for faces.

Apparently, it's not common, and often associated with problems in the left temporal lobe of the brain.

Just to cheer you up, here's an article by a guy who had this problem, which turned out to be related to a brain tumor:

Apparently it's also known in people with epilepsy.

It may sound trivial and it's likely it's just a psychological quirk of yours, but it might be worthwhile talking to a doctor about this. Facial recognition is pretty much a core ability of humans, and if it isn't working normally for you, it should be checked out.
