I really can't be f**ked to do anything

I literally don't have the motivation to do anything nowadays. Dishes, laundry, brushing teeth, showering, changing clothing, shaving, brushing hair, keeping house clean, eating healthy, exercising, shopping, meeting with friends and family, finding a job, paying bills, respondng to phone calls, getting out of the house in general.......

Every f***ing thing takes so much motivation AND energy! Sometimes I can't be f**ked looking after myself and wonder how I'll ever survive in this world. I'm probably just lazy.

Is It Normal?

  • Normal, a lot of people feel that way. It definitely helps to have something you love to do to;

    A.) build your self esteem
    B.) give yourself some structure

  • SSRIs plus benzos.

  • what ive found with this is that once structure and routine enters in your life, time management becomes important and you do many of these things out of necessity. Its really in my downtime when I have free time that its the greatest battle to motivate myself to do the things I actually want to do, like hobbies, cos adulting has taken so much of my energy throughout the week.

  • How long have you felt like this?

    • Possibly 8 years or more.
      EDIT: The last year has been worse than usual but I've always been like this.

      • I can relate. I've probably felt like this since I was young but it's progressively worse. It's been really kicking my ass since my mother passed away on August 13th.

        I guess I want to suggest that you get some professional help, and if a therapist isn't someone you feel comfortable with then I would highly recommend looking for a new one.

        I also highly advice that you start a gratitude journal, and list three to five things you're grateful for everyday. At first it will feel like pulling teeth, but it gets easier as you go along.

  • It sounds like depression. Try to get a therapist and see if you can be helped. You won't be like this forever, I promise, you just have to put in a little effort to try and fix the problem.
