I prepare for everything

My wife makes fun of me. I prepare for everything from a famine, civil war, being a fugitive. I have lots of guns and ammunition, my family knows where to meet in the woods if something were to go wrong and we needed to leave. I have bitcoin in a special account no one knows about and if I ever need money on the run I can retrieve it. I stockpile food. I also invest in a lot of automation stocks and ETFs. Im really big into saving money and live below our means to do it. I also stockpile medicines like antibiotics and pain meds and first aid kits. I have camo for the whole family. And some other stuff thats even slightly embarrassing. (Oh yeah own a generator too and keep lots of gasoline in my barn, have a backup car we never drive but if a car goes out we can use it)

I dont plan on ever needing any of these things and I dont predict anything to happen. My wife sometimes tells me that I am paranoid and it does sound like I am when I type this all out. I think maybe this stems from a younger age when I had instances when not being prepared screwed me. I also feel that it got worse since I had children. I am not a big conspiracy guy either I dont think the apocalypse is gonna happen anytime soon. But if it does... ill be ready.

The way the world is going you're gonna be more comfortable than most people in a couple years.

At least unless they send some peacekeepers over to take and redistribute your stuff.

You do you in a bunker.

Good that you are stocked with arms. Mainly because those who stock without them are just stockpiling them for the strongest dude on the block.

I feel like no one would expect me to be so prepared. I think farmers would be the first targets. You'd wanna take control of the food production

I definitely stock/ hoard things. I keep a tent and tackle in my trunk. I have a “go-bag”. And a meet up spot. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I think maybe when you have kids too, it makes it really important that you at least tried to keep them alive incase of emergency.

Typical ISTJ behavior, I see nothing out of the ordinary here. This is normal for an ISTJ.

The idea of stocking up for emergencies, short term disasters, and even a potential short term breakdown of the local government is normal.

The extent of your preparations is not; but, that does not mean that it's not wise to do so. It's a question of how much disposable income you have and can you rotate your stocks and not loose too much $ in expired or bad items.

I have a more modest setup than yours. Should I win on of the major Publishers Clearing House I would likely invest more into it.

Most people should have sufficient stocks to go at least several days without utilities and be able to defend their home or apartment from normal bullies and thieves. A large gang or professionals requires extra supplies, skills, and a pre-constructed defensible location.

You will be ready, but like most, ineffective. The only people left will be people like me.

You’ll be dead and that stuff will end up all over the place, like the pieces of you that I didn’t make a hat out of.

You've obviously got things under a bit more control than some of us haha! Being prepared is totally normal, but sometimes people will call you out for it. Don't stress it, they're just messy like I am.

      And make it double!,
To protect the world from devastation,
To denounce the evils of truth and love!,
To extend our reach to the stars above!

I don't have specific scenarios in my head, but we do have emergency plans for if we have to suddenly leave and fuck off into the wilderness.

    Nothing wrong with being prepared.

Yeah that's awesome, I definitely want to do the same thing. I haven't gotten around to doing it yet though really. One thing I really want to get in case I'd ever be wanted by the police, but that I would be nervous about getting it since it is very illegal, is a fake passport. That would be awesome if I managed to get one though, I might be able to get one on the deep web but it would be very dodgy.

PS. Another thing you could do to prepare that I thought of would be for you and your wife to agree on a danger password. A good one would be a random name, like Dave. So then if a burglar ever broke in and had your wife at gunpoint, but then you phoned her, then the burglar might tell her to answer it but not let on that anything's wrong. She couldn't tell you that a burglar has her or he could shoot her, but she'd need to let you know somehow so that you could call the police. So she could then casually use the danger password in the conversation to warn you, like "Oh hi hun, I'm still in work... yeah I had to cover for Fred today, he's sick...". The burglar would think she was just making something up to get rid of you, but really she let you know the situation. She could've tried to let you know without having a pre-arranged danger password, but that'd be risky. I came up with this idea after seeing this scenario in so many action movies, and now everytime I do see a scenario like this I can't help but think that it wouldn't have happened if they had a danger password prepared, lol.
