I personally would be insulted if I had been in a relationship with someone for a while and they chose to break up by text message. But i can understand not wanting it to drag out and dealing with lots of hurt feelings and perhaps awkwardness afterwards.
I prefer getting dumped over a text message than in person

But I like face to face breakups.
