When I read your post, I thought I was reading about myself. I enjoy being around people and helping others but I prefer to be alone. I’ve been married to a wonderful woman for many years and I often wish to be single so that I don’t have to share myself with her. I think I feel that way because I’ve found peace in myself in a way that few people ever do. I honestly love myself. Since I also love my wife and do want to continue to be with her I take up certain hobbies that give me that chance. I took up distance running because it gave me ample time to quietly enjoy my own company. I took up riding motorcycles because nobody can see me talking to myself with a full face helmet on. I love going out surfing alone. I don’t even need to catch waves, I just enjoy sitting in the water all alone and being connected to the ocean.
