I give my cats flea pills, flea and tick bath, flea spray, and collar.... and they're still there the next day; if you have horrible flea seasons and never had a hard freeze, you'll most likely not have a "easy" fix. I don't purposely punish my cats and dog with fleas, but if they've been put through the ringer then you honestly just want to help them because they can't do anything but eat them. It gives me a sense of control and achievement because even if it is just ONE flea, that's one less promblem! ❤
Yes it is normal but it is not an effective measure for fleas or ticks removal. Rather than pulling them by yourself you can use advantage multi that you can buy from petcarerx site for your pets. It will be a sound an effective treatment for getting them rid of your home. If the problem is too serious like the number of fleas are increasing day by day then immediately consult your Vet and start the treatment as soon as possible.
It's perfectly normal. Grooming is what primates do, and that's all this is! It also gives you a feeling of control while doing something productive. Although, it's not terribly effective with fleas because they jump.
If your kid catches lice from school, it is far, far more effective to sit there and pick them out than the shampoos and combs are.
Wow, I thought I was the only one who did this, as a kid if I didn't have anything better to do, I'd sit outside on the porch steps and we'd always have alot of cats and kittens running around but I would lay a kitten on my lap and start searching for fleas and pick them off I could do it for hours, we lived in the country and had alot of other animals too, but yeah it was something I enjoyed doing and when you're young you don't think about it being weird, I loved cats, well as I got older and had cats of my own I stopped doing it (I had a full time job and kids and a house to take care of which kept me busy) I would take my cat to the vet to get flea med that worked and everything was hunky-dory, then years later, out of the blue I start being a flea-picker again, I'd have a little plastic cup of water and my cat would be laying there and I had to get the fleas then in cup they'd go, idk but I finally outgrew the habit, I didn't feel bad about myself for doing it, maybe a quirk I had, but seriously I thought no one else in the world does this, anyway thought I'd share too :-)
From the time I learned to sit up, I have picked fleas off of cats. Idk what it is. But I just love the feeling of it. I guess just being able to feel them, catch them, and feel them squish between my nails. And sometimes when I know there arent many fleas left, ill transfer some from one cat to the next. Its like a habit. Everytime I pick up a cat, i HAVE to search for fleas. And I could do it all day until my back gets tired. Then I'll just rest for a lil bit and come back for more later. Its crazy. But I enjoy it.
