I ordered delivery they came when i was out. is the food safe to eat?

It was frozen chicken, cheese, yogurt, ice cream and milk

They were outside my house on the doorstep because they came early. It was 75 degrees outside and when I took them out of the bag they were thawed out and only cool but not warm. The ice cream was completely melted.

Are any of these safe to eat? It was two hours but I don't know how long the delivery was left out before it arrived to my house

Well, i would think it would really take a rather not smart person to order food to be delivered and then, you remember shit, son of a bitch, i need to go meet my local drug dealer while all the while you out runnin around you get sidetracked and then you take your car in for a tuneup, oil change and while they are at it they may as well throw on a new set of tires then someone walks by eating a pizza. You are thinking "Damn, i feel like im forgetting something. You get home and your neighbors dog left you a thank you card for the food you forgot about, then they bring their neibor dogs over waiting for your next delivery. But really it will depend on kind, how long, the weather, the bugs that got into it. A little extra protein no charge. But it might be, it might not be.

If you had scheduled for them to show up at a certain hour and they didn't, I would file a complaint. You're able to schedule a time for a reason.

    • Yeah thanks, I called them now and they gave me a refund and I threw out half the food just to be safe

  • I'm serve safe trained, I think food can be in the temperature danger zone for four hours, but it might be two. Most of those things require 41 degrees or below. It's probably safe, I would probably inspect it and pick at it first, but there are germs you may or may not want or need to consider

It's actually 2-4 hours in the danger zone but bacteria can double every 20 minutes. If you work with food I suggest you retake your handlers course. While you weren't incorrect you need to know the rules like they are permanently etched into your brain.

      • It's not necessary for my current food job as I'm not working with cooked food. I wouldn't mind getting it though

Iā€™d risk it with everything but the chicken.
Chicken scares the shit out of me.

Well then I would be on the phone telling them how unhappy you are and you want you're money back or have them deliver you another set of food you ordered .

    • No and there usually is. Usually I'm home for my deliveries anyway and they came at a different hour than expected so I was out and came home to no ice packs food in the sun

Food poisioning is for pussies. If you won't eat food that's out for 2 hours your immune system must be fucked.

So what did you do order it in the morning and then go out for the day? Doesn't sound like a smart thing to do., But I would have called and got your money back. Especially if you gave them specific instructions to not deliver before a specific time. Otherwise, you are probably S.O.O.L.

    • I ordered it to be delivered when I got home from work but it came early. When I checked my phone as I was leaving work it showed it arrived two hours ago and when I went to get it at my door, it was thawed out

And I was luckily able to call and get money back! I decided to throw it all out just to be safe
