I left a gf years ago for no other reason than the way her family was. They were a domestic train wreck. Always arguing, always asking for money, always at my house. There was even a time when they threatened she and I.
She knew how her family was and admitted to being embarrassed by them, but she refused to distance herself from them.
So, even though I cared about her very much and I knew that she loved me, I had to tell her it was over. She didn't take it well and asked if we could work it out, and I wanted to, but I just couldn't deal with her family.

    Good choice, they'd be in your life for the rest of it, ruining holidays, etc..., & making your life miserable.

    My girlfriends family can be a real pain sometimes and she recently got kicked out to live with her dad. She and I have distanced ourselves from them and it has made our relationship a lot better than what it was before. Families can be really toxic and if some people aren't willing to distance or confront them, it can end badly.

    sometimes broken can't be fixed and you move on. Call her tell her its still over and it still hurts but you will always love her no matter what.

      I think so too, but even all these years later, I still wonder what could have been. She was a good catch, and a good girl. My only remuneration is that she married a really good guy that I knew as a kid. Hopefully she's as happy as I wanted to make her.

        If it's any consolation. I sometimes miss my most recent ex even though he could turned out to be an asshole. I just wish that he would have been the person he initially presented himself to me as in beginning of the relationship.
