I also miss my grandfathers and my grandmother although I never got the chance to meet them.
But back to your post... You grew up hearing these stories about him and watching him on home videos. I'm sure it feels like you got to know who he was but he never got to know you. I believe it is normal. I'm sure your granddad is happy knowing he can influence your life like that. :)
