This is honestly everything I was going to say. You need to have a real heart to heart with your girlfriend and help her understand how you feel. She may never completely get it, but as long as she agrees to do her best and be supportive this could be a fulfilling relationship.
I'd also add that you should ignore the ignorant comments in this section. There seems to be the same members of IIN repeatedly making obnoxious statements and I know it may hurt.
