  • Can you even solve this?, looks like you just threw numbers out there.

    • Nope it is an actual equation. A very difficult one, but real. An infinite recursive series equation.

      • x=1/y

          • To demonstrate you are worthy of my explanation, you must first show that your IQ is at least 90% of mine.

            • The fact that you can't answer my question shows that my IQ is 150% greater than yours. Just give it up.

              • On your part, this statement shows very weak thinking. Your supposition is that I would gladly show any dumb ass my work to gratify my ego. Well, after tutoring all my college friends in advanced calculus, I am tired of helping people who have already given up.

I will make an exception here to show you my work. But this does not mean you are off the hook. I am still expecting you to demonstrate superior mathematical abilities that are at a level of 90% of my own.
                ------------------------

The trick to this infinite recursion expression is to recognize that because it is a geometric series, of sorts, the infinite limit of the entire series without the first term is ½(y),
                making the original expression equivalent to 1/2x + ½(y) = y.
                Solving, we get,

                1/2x = y - y/2
                1/2x = y/2
                1/x = y
                So, x = 1/y.

Now my friend, I never said you were dumb. But, I have serious doubts. Your go. Where's the beef?
