I'm not pregnant after 5 months of unprotected sex with my bf.

My boyfriend and I had a pregnancy scare 5 months ago and ever since then we havent been using any form of proctection whats so ever (stupid ikr?).
Do you think there is something physically wrong with us where we can't have kids or is this normal?

As a fertility doctor said to me, 1 in 6 couples will be infertile together without intervention on average. 2 in 6 may have some issues but with enough unprotected sex will likely become pregnant. The rest should become pregnant within a year.

All in all we are not the most 'fertile' species as people don't tend to try for kids until their older.
When you are younger these problems are less likely so you may get pregnant faster.
Basically being young and stupid will more likely see you pregnant then not

so... you want a baby or you don't? cuz if you don't then what you are doing is kinda dumb. Stop it! On the other hand if you want one, then keep on trying or see a doctor.

are you *trying* to have kids?

I mean if you think it's stupid to not use birth control ... what exactly are you expecting to happen?

Perfectly normal that you haven't been caught - YET!!!

Please use protection before you completely ruin your life. He has not committed to you so don't have a baby with him. Live your life to the full before you have a child to look after 24/7.

Ok while this is very good advice and I agree entirely, how do you *know* he isnt committed to her? She didn't even say how long they had been together.

Because he's a boyfriend and not a 'husband'!

Therefore no official commitment - duh!

Do you know that it's something like 80% of all teenage fathers who disappear out of their child's life forever? At least with husbands you have some chance of child maintenance and you have legal rights.

That's some awesome statistics you just pulled out of your ass right there. It's actually more like twenty percent. And unmarried fathers are still legally required to pay maintenance.

Just watched the review of Teen Pregnancy and that statistic was quoted actually. You must be VERY young if you seriously think it's 20% over a lifetime! Lucky if it would be 20% of divorced fathers who keep up with their kids. Men compartmentalise their lives and just close the lid on that box and move on!!

They may be required by law, if they are even named on the birth certificate, but tracking them down is usually an issue, then they deny it and there are paternity tests, etc what if they are not working? Children are a very expensive luxury - so always make sure there's a steady wage coming into the home before taking risks like this.

            Fools walk in ....

If you know it's "stupid" why do it then? You're not pregnant yet, but could be if you continue not to use protection. Don't let down your guard, pregnancy can creep in when you least expect it. Always use protection or you'll have a unexpected present!

Well you could be having sex at the wrong time in your menstrual cycle (Unless of course you're having sex every day).

So if you're having sex and it's been 5 months and you're not pregnant then... I'd say it's not normal and there's a problem.

It was the other way round for me, i met a girl, she got peggers within the first week, she went half term miscarried, after we got our heads together we wanted to try again... 2 years we tried and nothing, it just depends, timing and hormones play a big part on both sides.

  • I dated a guy and used no protection for years, and never got pregnant... It's because he smoked a shit ton of pot, and frequent pot use seriously reduces a male's sperm count.

I was a stupid teenager, who wasn't ready for a kid.. Seriously, I thank GOD I never got pregnant with him, being as reckless as we were.

Either way, wrap it up. You can't be too careful till you're ready.

Actually it doesn't lower it significantly. And at this point some of those claims are speculation in the process of being tested for more thoroughly.

          • I bet you 20 bucks you're younger than I am and WAY more sheltered. As a former heavy pot smoker, I can honestly say, there is little good that can come from potheads breeding.

Nice try, I don't know how old you are but I'm certainly not sheltered anymore. I used to be, then it got me into trouble because I was too trusting. Took me to some fucked up places and I'm glad I escaped with my mind intact.

Sounds like you have your own issues there, it's fine if cannabis didn't help you, but if you want to see somehow so useful in medicine abolished I assume you haven't been keeping up to date on the latest scientific journals on medicinal marijuana.

It took my fiance and I a year. I know a girl who got pregnant after having sex just once. It really depends, but general rule of thumb is after a year go and see if the swimmers are in good shape and the pool is well chlorinated!
Although I get the feeling you donT want to become pregnant. Use protection.

It also depends on the days when you're ovulating. You only get a few days after a cycle and during the cycle to get pregnant.

It is both incredibly easy AND difficult to get pregnant.

One the one hand, it only takes one time to get pregnant.

On the other, there are thousands of factors to determine if you will. Your diet could make your uterus acidic, so sperm can't survive long. When you have sex might not be when you ovulate, so there's no egg to fertilize. Horomones. His sperm count. Medicines you take. The environment you're in. Your bacterial/yeast health (yes, you have.both.) Your body can refuse a pregnancy or treat it like an allergy.

Basically, dont worry that you're NOT pregnant. Start worrying about WHEN you'll get pregnant if you keep this up!

There could be many reasons for this. The most obvious would probably be that you're just lucky, but you could also be sterile, have sex only a little after having your period, or your bf could have weak sperm. By the way, five months of unprotected sex doesn't really tell us much. How many times in that five months?

Either way, I wouldn't worry. It's probably luck, though you could always see a doctor to know for sure.

im assuming he's not ejaculating into you.

haha I actually convinced myself that I was barren b/c I was not getting pregnant from unprotected sex. I conviced myself to the point of being okay w/ a recent boyfriend's fondness of cumming in me. I got pregnant real quick.

If your not being cummed in...chances are your not going to get preggers. But if you are receiving ejaculate once a day, and your young and have never had an sti for more than 4 weeks...you WILL GET PREGNANT in under two months.
