I'm in my late 20's but still feel immature

I feel more mature than I was in High School but I don't feel like an adult. I don't relate to my peers really. They too seem immature but in a different way.The conversations that they have just seem like they're blabbering about random stuff. And when I try to talk to them they just act irritable and uninterested. All they do is complain or act nonchalant.

Is It Normal?

  • I'm 47 and still immature, but I tend to pay a price for it. Sometimes I can be naive and even idealistic despite my burgeoning somewhat conservative leanings. To be completely honest there's a part of me that would have loved to have remained a child forever. I'm pretty sure that I'm an adult child. Sometimes it's scary to be me.

  • I'm in my 30's and I haven't matured much from childhood. I don't understand people and can't relate. It sucks. There's probably something wrong with me, like a personality disorder, on the spectrum or just an extreme introvert. But I suspect a lot of people feel less mature than others their age. Just be careful to not compare your private life to everyone's public image.

  • Ha ha, I'm in my early 70's and in some ways still immature in that I trust people too much. I used to blush a lot in my teens and twenties and I still do occasionally.

  • I'm your age (late twenties) and I'm often told I need to 'take myself in hand' and 'not be so naïve', 'stop acting like a child', 'stop being so oversensitive'... I never feel like I fit in with folk my age; I prefer hanging around with folk in their fifties. So... I can't say you're normal, but you're certainly not alone :-)
