    My guess would be that she enjoys the closeness for example I had a guy mate ( I am female) and neither of us was attracted to each-other in that way but we still would cuddle up on the couch to watch a movie ect its like a boyfriend in every way except the sexual one maby your friend enjoys the relationship in this way or maby there is actually attraction there
