I don't know if she was ever into you or not, it sounds like you may have gotten mixed signals.
In any event this was a terrible idea, you should not try to date the friends of your kids it causes too many problems and risks screwing up the relationship you have between you and your kids.
I agree, i think i made a major mistake and i think she told my daughter too since she's stayed on campus and hasn't visited for a while. I'm considering having a meeting with the both of them so I can apologize appropriately.
