Here's some advice from a guy who's daughter's best friend decided that I was the man that she couldn't not have--when she was 14.

It's okay to be attracted. I'll be honest that I thought about it but man, 14. My daughter was 14. I saw her as a daughter--she didn't have a living father and I have always seen that it was a mixed up feeling for her. They're girls, going through a lot of stuff. The worst thing you could do is indulge because she's got a long life to live-relatively--before she's an adult.

You can't do anything. If it's that tough, leave the school. Otherwise be a man and act gallant. Understand that you're attracted to her but that's all it can ever be.

The girl I'm referencing and that attraction? I'm going to be at her wedding next month. She's a great person and I'm so proud of her. She just turned 28. The attraction is still there--by her admission and I had to fess up my own feelings one night as we ended up sitting and drinking. But nothing happened. She's got a great man that's not old enough to be her dad. I respect her, my daughter, and myself too much to have even ever done anything, even as adults.

Be gallant, be a man. Understand your attraction is natural but don't act on it. That's a good lesson for her too.

I respect your comments and can tell instantly that it's true, but I'm late 30's and want to know why I am thinking the same and it has never happened before.
This girl is 15 or 16 and I've known her about 3 years. She has the most perfect personality and it stresses me while thinking about her. I have no sexual feelings and understand completely that they have many things to go through, but we have the same way of thinking and I've never known this before with anybody and I think others have noticed this.
Anybody else then I'd think they were perverts. I ignored her and realised she doesn't want me to talk to her when she's with friend's or going to school, but she recently looked at me differently and this shouldn't be happening.
I see her with friends who have boyfriends- she doesn't and I don't think others see in her what I see.
This isn't right, but we only talk and I know that others think I'm after sex, but it's more than that and I only enjoy seeing and talking to her.

Maybe you and I should chat, we connect over this issue. I’ve totally lost composure over my student. This is my third school year with him, I fell in love with him this past winter. He’s 14, I’m 27, and I’m a total wreck over it. If you think it’s hard, imagine going an entire school year unable to express your emotions, not seeing them for the whole summer, coming back to work and realizing you’re STILL madly in love with the person. I honestly don’t know what to do. I have been crying every night over him. I see him everyday, and he’s just so sweet. But I know that he will never know these deep feelings I’ve been holding inside of me. He will disappear, and I will be forgotten. It’s a horrible experience and I don’t know what to do besides cry.

Some girls never want their teachers. Some have fleeting little crushes. Still there are some others that will really fall hard in love with you if you show them your feelings. I mean love you for life. Like I told one other teacher on here, if you make it too obvious in public how you feel, all the other teachers will start noticing. Plus the girl will start to experience some new feelings that she's never felt before and want to tell her friends. This will make everything fall apart, and you'll never get her. If you truly love her you will wait the next four years for her. Then you can tell her how you were crazy about her all the time she was in high school. You are mature enough to be able to control yourself and wait, but the girl isn't. She will go ape at that age. I know because I was once a fifteen year old girl in a mutual relationship with a teacher. And it got found out, thus ending what could have been a very wonderful thing.

I fell for my teacher, but I was too afraid to tell anyone because if anyone knew he'd get ib trouble. I/am was a shy introvert, but I remember multiple times I questioned his feelings, one when he came to discuss a project and we just held eye contact with no words until he cleared his throat and continued. I waited till I graduated found him on Facebook (his account was private so through other teachers I was able to find it,haha...) and friended the sh*t out if that button. That was really recent so I'm waiting.

It's wrong for an adult to have a relationship with a child, but what I'm doing is also wrong and all that's happening is that I talk to a girl of about 15 and we seem to have similar interests and I know that other adults have noticed. It's nothing sexual from me, but I just find her personality and exterior as being so perfect and I enjoy talking to her. I get stressed out thinking about her and can't help feeling this way and want to keep talking to her. I noticed over a year ago that she seemed after a boy of same, but she doesn't seem to be with anyone; although I saw her with a friend who was with a b/f recently.
I saw her hugging a school friend and felt compelled to begin my jogging and pass her from a distance, but felt she did look back at me.
I saw her a week later and she looked at me differently and not like that before, so do you think she thinks my listening to her stories and showing an interest in her for 3 years is better than what's been happening to her?
She opened the door for me last Sunday and when I had decided to ignore her; I said thanks and I noticed that she must have stood there, because the door only began to close after about 5 seconds and I decided not to look at her.
This shouldn't be happening and don't think this is an excuse to groom her, because I wish she was my daughter and I could enjoy her company that way- normal way!

From your entry, I'm gonna assume that you've had relations with this girl already. I'm not even gonna harp on you about the attraction you have for her. I bet she embodies everything good about a female. She's young, wide-eyed, carefree and makes you feel alive and happy when your around her. But c'mon, stop being shortsighted. What do you and a 15 yearold have in common? This can only end badly for you.

I'm writing this for every teacher and student reading it.

This is a completely normal situation to be in. It's even normal to want to follow through on your feelings, because that's what romantic feelings do--they make you an idiot. As for those saying that he doesn't really know her, that's not necessarily true. Depending on your personality and role at the school, you can develop quite real relationships with your students. It's different than with a peer, but it's definitely a real and complex relationship.

I'm a young teacher, and I'm attractive. I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but it's just the truth. Relative to most people, I have a good looking face and I've seriously considered fitness modeling (I'm a gym rat with single digit body fat). I say this because it means that I get a lot of attention from girls at school. It feels good to get attention from the "popular hot girls" even if they are young and I'm married. It's a throw back to what we men all wanted when we were their age--suddenly I'm as popular as One Direction!

It's entirely possible that you can actually fall in love with someone who is WAY too young. It's entirely possible that the romance is real, and that it's the same feeling you would have for someone your own age. Romantic love isn't a rational or moral thing. It is what it is, and it decides whatever it wants. Romantic love doesn't last (thank God because it's an exhausting and a debilitating state), but it can give way to committed love which can last much longer.

When you "fall in love" with someone who is off-limits, it drives you crazy. The impossibility of it only makes it stronger, and as a teacher, you have to see her every day, reinvigorating your feelings and despair over the impossibility of it.

It's pretty obvious why a 30 year old teacher would fall for a 13-17 year old student. They are often attractive (especially girls because they develop physically at a younger age than men), they are care-free, adorable like a puppy, yet fiercely energetic. They are still at an age where they live in the moment, and they aren't concerned with whether or not you remembered to bring home diapers. They still have everything that you want so desperately to hold onto for yourself--dreams, youth, potential, mystery, energy, etc.

Perhaps she reminds you of yourself and something you want to hold onto or rediscover in yourself, or perhaps she represents something you feel you missed out on when you were in high school. Whatever the case, your love can be completely real and just as innocent as it would be if you were 14 yourself.

The problem is that you aren't 14, and you're a teacher, and possibly married with children. That means that you should do what's right and what's loving. If you actually love her then protect her innocence, protect her heart, protect her youth, and let her live the adolescence that you would wish for your own daughter.

If she loves you too, protect her self-confidence, and don't put her in an impossible situation that you can't make right. At age 30, my romantic love is pretty much the same feeling that I had when I was 14, so you and her could genuinely be in love.

I don't recommend telling her about your feelings unless you are backed into a corner where doing so will keep the situation from developing further. Telling her has a great chance of going public, and it will likely confuse the situation. What if you tell her, and later she loses her love for you. Then she has to see you at school and wonder if you still have feelings. I would start preparing what you would say if you had to tell her, and it should be designed to KEEP the situation from developing into something more serious, and helping her to understand that you have to have boundaries... at least for a few years.

I know (from experience) that it's incredibly difficult to do the right thing in this situation. Every day that goes by without acting on your feelings is like having splinters pulled from under your fingernails. However, realize that many people have been through this, and gotten through it the right way. Why don't you hear about them? Who in their right mind goes around confessing to friends and family that they were in love with an illegally underage girl? I would guess that this situation is almost as common as guys looking at porn, but like porn, they don't exactly tell everybody about it.

As for me, when I have romantic love in my heart and and impossible situation, I fall back on prayer and scripture. I pray just to want to get through it and do the right thing, because let's be honest--my heart doesn't want to get over her. I pray for strength and patience. I pray that good will come from it. I pray that no matter what she does, I show love by protecting her and the other people in my life from the idiocy of my own heart. I pray that God gives me greater control over future situations, so that I don't feel so out of control the next time around.

Young Girls: I read many posts here of girls dreaming that this was their teacher and even saying they want to hook up with a teacher. Please have the decency not to ruin some guy's life over your own lust or fantasy, and if you truly are in love with him, show him the same protective love that he should be showing you. There's no short cut to doing this the right way. Waiting is the right thing to do. After you graduate, if he's single and still has feelings, then follow your heart. Until then, show him you love him by protecting him from the consequences of his own silly romantic love that will inevitably make him unable to do the right thing if you put him in enough dangerous situations.

Your comments do have many helpful aspects, but it does on many levels seem to be defending this situation and an older person's viewpoint. Don't you feel that the girl deserves sympathy, becasue she may be confused and the older person obviously has far more life experiences and should know how to behave?
A girl can't ruin his life, but then you talk about whether he should tell her his feelings and the consequences of that, but I'm in a similar position and won't do that.
      I've detailed my story above.

I think it's normal for teachers of teenage students to feel attracted to them. What would be abnormal is if you acted on it.

So don't feel guilty for having feelings for this girl. It's natural. If we lived 200 years ago, she would probably be married.

Just make sure you don't do anything inappropriate; that's the main thing.

Also, are you sure it's love, and not a crush? I know you say you think about her all the time, but that's true of a crush as well as true, deep love.

My advice is to wait it out. Sooner or later, she'll no longer be at your school, and at that point, if you still have feelings for her, you can approach her romantically.

How old are you, by the way?

Okay, but do you think a 15 or 16 year old girl would become attracted to an older person and just because they can't find someone suitable of same age?
I have detailed my situation and don't target girls, but my brain seems to go on auto pilot when she's around and I can't control how I feel.
Can a girl like this become attracted and just like a woman could; based on personality qualities, becasue she has recently began to look at me straight into my eyes- smiling and that's what I have noticed.
Other adults have noticed previously, but is it strange for a man of late 30's to be talking in public to this girl?

A 15 year old girl can fall in love with a teacher because of other reasons then not being able to find a guy of her own age. I'm one of them. I always fell in love with older boys, even men, and I did get a lot of attention from younger ones. Girls are getting mature way earlier then guys, that's what attracted me. I fell in love with one of my teachers, bald, 49 years old. I was 15. I could have a good talk with him, discuss anything with him. He was kind, a good listener and respectful. So after some time I developed some deep feelings for him, but I kept a distance because of my age and what other people would think IF anything would happen. I noticed from the look in his eyes he had feelings for me as well. At the last day at school he told me he loves me. I coudn't say anything and just went away, crying. Now it's 20 years later, I still love him and know he still loves me, though we're not together, unfortunately.
If I'm right the girl you're talking about is about 23 years old nowadays. What have you got to lose? Why don't you just tell her about your feelings? Life is short, take a risk, take a chance.

You're not alone dude. That's something i had suffered for months since I met her from my first day of teaching as a high school teacher. I found her very beautiful. She always looked at me as if she was seducing me and smiled at me as if something played on her mind. At first i had a crush on her until i totally fell in love with her. We had a constant communication through text and facebook. I didn't realize i wasn't doing well. I was out of focus. Until one day, i couldn't help myself but to tell her that she's very special to me and that i loved her very much. It was a bit awkward but i didn't mind the consequences. She didn't tell anyone about it and so did i until the whole class discovered about our secret. My principal talked to me in private and told me to wait until she graduated. I waited for a few months and after she received her high school diploma, i continued courting her. And now, i am just waiting for her "yes" for her to become my girlfriend. Just a piece of advice. If you're deeply in love with your student, just wait for the right time to come.

I associate with that, but it's more to do with what's best for the girl and don't you think she should spend a lifetime searching and be pressured by her emotional issues to find love in this situation?
I'm late 30's and have detailed my story here, but thinking about her is stressful and I decided a year ago to ignore her and only last two weeks to do the same, but this is what happened:
She spoke to me, because she speaks about my dog, so I had to take notice of her.
I recently realised in what situation she wants to speak.
She, in last week, has begun to look into my eyes and smile and that look is different.
Others noticed this a long time ago and I thought there's nothing wrong with talking, but I can't control how I am thinking and why doesn't my brain understand that she's about 15!

What's not to like? She's young. She's probably innocent. She's growing; and your wittnissing it...but from her perspective you are an adult. You have to remember that how you act around her is going to stick with her for the rest of her life. Even if it's just a 'moment' for you. Things are far clearer and potent when your younger. You may deeply affect her... because having a fully grown man fall in love with her could be quite intimidating; so be cautious...

  • TheIncorrigible

Okay, first of all, this is perfectly normal - as a youthful and attractive female, she is designed to attract an older male, and as a healthy older male (which i'm assuming your are) you are designed (by millions of years of evolution) to be attracted to her.

So, now that we have established the normality of the situation, let's address some solutions. I am assuming that you know this girl well enought to confirm that you are genuinely in love with her, as opposed to merely infatuated with her looks? If it is just a physical attraction, then forget it, but if it's really love... well, love knows no boundaries.

    1. You can choose not to act, and continue as normal, gradually becoming more bitter, until she finds someone else, falls in love and you die unhappy and alone.

    2. You can move schools and attempt to strike up a relationship with her, now that the teacher-pupil relationship obstacle is removed

    3. You can pull a move on her now - might work, might not - but odds are, sooner or later people will find out

Don't know when this was posted. but some advice from a long time teacher (male) who was attracted to a few students (female) over the years. I taught 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18 year old students over my career. Even if it is not sexual at the present time, if you allow a closer bond, it will become sexual. If you have normal hormones, you will move down a forbidden path. Do not visit her after school or off campus. Always leave your door open. Do NOT discuss this with the student, as it might attract her more. At the end of her time in school, give your favorite students, at least a dozen, a note wishing them well and hoping to see how they are doing a year after they have attended a year of Uni.
If this girl is your soulmate, then when she reconnects you can explore a relationship. Good Luck.

Well, it is normal to feel that way towards a student. I dated a former highschool teacher when I was 17 but it was after I had graduated. Because she is 15 there is nothing you can do except wait until she is out of school and if you still care for her then go right ahead.

    It happens.
    :)

But heed this warning... If she doesnt know, wait. Wait until its legal. If somebody finds out, well then its all over. and i dont just mean your relationship.
Surely there's no reason you guys can be friends until she's 18 (providing you live in the states), even though you are teacher and student, just dont get too close. I'm friends with alot of my old highschool teachers, and sometimes i go out to clubs with my old english teacher. hehe. Shes crazy. of course i know this is a bit different now, since im 20, but i was good friends with them even back when i was 15 and 16 years old.

But TheIncorrigible is right, if its just a physical attraction, your best bet is to drop it.

It is totally normal to be in love with one of your students because as a teacher, you have to care for your students, you just care about this one more. And with the amount of time you spend with them, you're bound to like her. Just cause it's, according to law, not right to date a minor, doesn't mean it's not normal to like or be inlove with one. :)

This is perfectly normal in my eyes. I am 16 and in love with my teacher . He is on my mind 24/7 and can't stop thinking about him. Me and him sneak and talk to each other everyday. I really feel for him. If you really love her, go for it. But don't be creepy. Don't be like "I LOVE you! Do you love me back?" just outta nowhere. Tell her that you care for her and that she's special to you and thta you have deep feelings for her. Tell her how you feel, and tell her to respect how you feel by not being rude or going off telling anyone. Then ask her if she feels the same way? If she says no, then let her know you'll leave it alone and never bring it back up, and if she says yes, well congrats and good luck hun !

I dont see anything wrong with a teacher liking a student or a student liking a teacher. I might be 17 but I know these things happen, its normal. Ive had a crush on one of my old teachers since I was a freshman and Im a senior now, he's 26 now; he was a student teacher when I met him and I had him all the time because my teachers were always absent. Anyway it is better if you wait till she's 18 or after her graduation. Maybe she also likes you; look for signs like if she looks at you a lot or if she always tries to talk to you or joke with you.

best thing you can do is take some time off or switch schools. things like this never turn out good for the teacher. and even if it does work someone is bound to find out. then you can lose your job and go to jail. its just not worth the risk.

Awwwwwww I don't see why everyones putting you gown I think you should go for it. I am a 15 yr old girl and this story sounds scarily similar to something actually happening to me. Well this new music teacher came to our school not that long ago and he really struck me I was fascinated. Anyway whenever I got close to him he stares intensely at my lips and it's actually really attractive and I try not to look at him but I find him looking at me. We've had a couple of really intense moments and I would love for him to make a move then again he is young I just can't get him out of my head and I think the girl your talking about would be the same. This would be amazing if you were actually my teacher please tell me if you are.

The reason why people are putting it down is because the girl is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD, and the man will get into alot of shit if he acts on his little desired. The fact is, it's okay if you may be somewhat attracted to a student, but if it's a girl that young and if the teacher actually does something its not cute and romantic anymore, it's completely fucked up.

Love isn't something that can be defined. I feel that as long as YOU think you're in love, you are in love. Because no one can know what your heart is telling you better that you can. But even if you do believe it is love, my advice is not to get too attached. I know it's hard, but you can't let this take over your life. Trust me. Not too long ago I believed I loved my Economics teacher. I have now realized that he is not the right guy for me (twice my age...), but that someday I will find a man who is, who is just as amazing as him, if not more so. I can't tell you how many nights I cried over him. Wasted tears... Anyways, I can now even more fully appreciate him as a teacher and as a person. And I admire him so, so much, but he is not right for me, and I'm so glad I have finally found the strength to move on.

If you only see her as a daughter and you're only keen on her personality, then why feel nervous around her? Why do you feel guilty, if you are not interested romantically? Are you in a relationship? Why is her personality so perfect?

no,you're wrong to an extent looks played the biggest part here without doubt.this is actually more common then you think girls at 15/16 are generally attractive.you have to remember they do apply at this age as well which doesn't help, and in my honest opinion its a very dangerous age for any man to encounter were teaching is concerned..

        Comment Hidden ( show )
      • kittylitter101

She is a child. You can't say that her personality attracted him. He doesn't actually KNOW her. She could be sweet in the classroom and a stone cold bitch outside of it. I think you don't realize that 13 and 15 aren't actually very different. Both are adolescents, both are teenagers, and most importantly, BOTH ARE STILL IN PUBERTY. She is NOT close to finishing developing! Puberty lasts for about six years, you must realize and probably didn't know, and assuming that she went into puberty at an average age, she is not very near full development. And full development isn't even when puberty ends. It's when the brain is able to fully think about consequences for actions, which is really around age 23-25. Do you know why the legal drinking age in the U.S. is 21? It's because your brain isn't really fully done growing until that time. You CANNOT say that she is near full development. She is still a child. Falling in love, having sex, having any sort of school relationship with her is manipulative because she isn't fully grown and just does not understand the consequences for her actions.

I know this post is old but I dont think its abnormal. I honestly wish you were my teacher and I was that student but I just think one should be careful with situations like this. No matter what , going to jail and being registered as a sex offender for the rest of your life, is not worth it. Be smart about the situation because if she's that young she won't keep it on the DL. At least one other person will know , then the word will spread. I'm an 18 year old female andim attracted to one of my teachers. I want him so bad that I can't really be around him. I dont want to ruin his life you know? So dont ruin yours , that's not to say dont pursue but be smart.

Here's what I want I think. Don't listen to what other people say. All you have to do is follow your heart, consider all the consequences, and act for the good. I'm a student who fell in love with her young teacher and let me tell you, some young women can be open minded to such stuffs. True, you have to wait until she's of legal age but you also have to consider her choices. I felt the same back when I was in high school, I've gone through that 'I can't stop thinking about him all day' stuffs and I can assure you I still feel the same for my teacher. But I'm moving on. It didn't turn out the way I wanted maybe because I didn't tell him how I feel. All my friends were saying how much they can see his efforts in me but I never listened and see? No one judged. Not even my friends. They even supported me.

I'm just saying, wait for the right time and follow your heart or you might regret it. Keep me posted! :) I want to see how this turns out.

I have to say it is normal...but don't take it any farther.

I had a crush on one of my teachers in grade seven and although I fantisized about him as much as you do about your student, i'm glad he never made a move.

it's normal. but i don't advice you to go for it as she's still a teenage. if u really love her wait a few years and then tell her about it!

She's 15. You could get arrested for this. Even if you think you "love her" if you lay a fucking hand on her I swear I could even go over and kick your ass. She's 15. Your like 40. She wasn't even born yet when you were like 35. That's. Disgusting. And pedofileish. You will be put on record.

This would be a breech of duty of care and a deep mistrust of such a position as a teacher and relationship between student and teacher. I suspect this is fake but if it is not you very well know the laws as I'm sure it states such situations in your employment contract. I would also note that any conversation you have had with this student may have been already against the law if it included anything which may resemble grooming. If this is true, you have identified this and should take action to protect your career and the innocence of this young student. Change classes, schools, etc or suffer the consequences. That is of course assuming this is not fake

Wait until you're not her teacher anymore... keep in touch with her and check back in a few years.

just wait till she's 16, ask her about it, if she likes you too then change schools and date her, then it would be legal

That sucks but good on you for not acting on it. Love does crazy things. I'd switch schools and see counseling about why you fell for her in the first place. It ain't her looks. It probably goes much deeper than anything you're recognizing.

i guess she does'nt really understand.. and you, too, should realize that even if you weren't her teacher such a relationship just couldn't last.. she's a kid and you're a man.. you both think differently.. just try to convince yourself to wait a few years... :)

if you do something your going to be put in jail. it would be better if you jus forgot about it. and hopped on the internet look up some sexi singles (your age) and flirt. go on some dates and full deeply in love with the girl of your dreams. but she has to be YOUR AGE( or older if thats what you want).

Go away for a while (take a break or a vacation) THEN come back and see if you feel the same way. Sometimes separation is good for the sou, because you see her every week I imagine, so it's stiffling you.

Just take a break and breath for a while.

oh, how I would love to sexual realatshiopns with my teacher!
    Not.
Seriously, you do know that you CANNOT act on your feelings, right? Okay.. I don't know what to say. DONT TELL HER!
Treat her like any other student, avoid makeing eye contact with her. She's probably severly freaked out as it is. I had that problem once. her's, not yours. I was rather scared that my teacher was deeply in love with me. Altohugh I don't think that anymore. It was really creepy, he was old. But he's retiring now, so it's all good, anway.

Sometimes, people can't help what they feel. You have to understand, this man didn't want to feel this way yet he did. This stuff happens, you know.

that is not normal, this student is clearly underage and what you are describing is pedophilia. I suggest getting help or, at the very least, not working with children/teens anymore. any "relationship" where one person is underage is automatically abusive and "persuing" the student or having "sexual relations" with them, as some of these comments were suggesting you should do, is statutory rape.

    THIS HAPPENED A YEAR AGO.

If you are still holding out; GROW UP ASSHOLE.

You are in lust w/ her, not love. She is 15, and laughing while telling all her friends about you. I did, while wearing see through shirts and a black bra to school- oh yeah, and skirts up to my ass [long legs- you could never see anything, but it was sure fun watching them try]. Stupid men.
