I'm about to go to college and am still afraid of the dark

So I've been dealing with the fear of the dark ever since I was younger. If I remember correctly I was about 7 when I started to build tiny pillow forts on my bed instead of just sleeping normally, but when I turned 13, I had finally found myself feeling comfortable without it but then my fear came back and so I started turning up the tv and the bathroom lights, and I still do it till this day. It just doesn't seem normal to me that I still feel this way about the dark...

I lived with a roommate and we often kept the lights on all night because neither of us really slept. So it could work out like that. Although I recommend going out to southwest texas, it gets extremely dark there so they have built a giant telescope. If you immerse yourself in a very extreme way it will be much easier than baby steps
