  • I guess it is normal. My buddy is going through the same thing, although a few differences. He's had more than one girlfriend, but his longest one was for 3 and a half years, and just since a few months back, he's starting to reminisce on it a little too much. Things like "why did I break up with her" or "she's just like her" etc etc. It's getting to the point where he doesn't think he can ever be happy with another girl, and getting back with her is out of the question, for she's engaged to some one else. It's hard people to let go of their first love, especially for you I take (7 years?!). Anyhow, I'll advise you with what I've been trying with my friend, maybe it'll help: just have a guys night out. Go to the mall, club, beach or any of the usual hangout spots are for girls, and try your best to just not think about the ex. It may be tough at first, as I've personally seen. But, he is making progress, and isn't mentioning similarities between women he says and his ex. This obviously isn't something that changes overnight, for wounds need time to heal. But it's just like anything else: patience is a virtue, and if you dedicate yourself to try and mingle with other girls, be social with them, it will pay off and you will be able to move on.

Best of luck to you man.
