Personally, I couldn't think of a greater waste of time. At least on here IIN, one can interact with others to some degree. However, that said, I absolutely have no intention of saying you shouldn't do what you please, or that it is wrong.
When I was your age, most games required 2 or more people, sitting around a table, so we weren't as isolated as people are getting today. I can honestly see a future where people live in VR and never encounter another person IRL. That thought just not make me happy. I like meeting new people and having experiences IRL.
I've noticed people of a former generation can't shake off their outdated view of video games. Video games in the past few years have evolved to something different. They've become competitive, and a sport (I think a record 400k viewers was achieved during the recent Counter-Strike tournament). They are a source of entertainment and comedy (Portal 2), or cinematic (Last of Us). So playing a video game for several hours is equivalent to binge-watching your favorite TV series or movies.
I agree with you to an extent, real life experiences have more depth and should be valued over video games. I myself prefer eg. kayaking with friends over playing my most favorite video game. But your last line is a little inconsistent given that you're an avid regular at IIN. And IIN is just as much virtual as video games.
I love playing online games at age 22
