I live with my parents i'm 30

I have lyme disease so I'm too sick to care for myself, very ill bedridden, not married but do work. Co-workers judge me for being with my parents still makes me feel ashamed and I'm already embarrassed. Pay all own bills, clothes and groceries though. Looking into going on disability because keep calling out sick to work unable to get through each work day

I'm also trying to improve health before I am able to continue my studies (I want to be a teacher) then I'd move out. Not sure how long so I'm here for at least a few more years.

Is this awful? Is it wrong? All my friends are moved out, thankfully none are married yet but they're not living with parents.

If you cant live on your own you cant. There is no shame in living with your parents especially if your parents dont mind and you do your best to help out. There will always be people who judge though but they don't know you and haven't been in your mind and body.
You move out when you feel ready.

House prices in the last 30 years or so have tripled in some places. There are many many 30 year olds still living at home who have no medical issues. The price of living is simply far too much for some if not MOST people. Don’t worry about it too much. Perhaps you just need your own space as at 30 a man needs his own sort of area for good mental health. Perhaps look at other option to moving out but also have some independence.

Long term health issues are the pits... and do affect a person's productivity and lifestyle.

The last 9 months have been very instructive to me on this as I apparently have long term effects from Covid.

Keep the faith... you can find a way to recover.

If you don't have the means to move out then there's no shame in having not yet moved out

I think it's more common these days than a lot of people realize for adults to still be living at home, and it can be for multiple reasons. I actually think it's becoming rarer to see people between 18 and 21 who aren't still living at home in my area (and I'm not talking about staying in the dorms at college during the school year). There's absolutely no shame in living at home if you have medical issues that are out of your control, which prevent you from being able to live on your own. No one should berate you for that at all!

Also, you are paying your own bills and for your own belongings, which I think is great!

I don't know why your coworkers would judge you if they are aware of your situation (and even if they aren't, they should really mind their own business).

If you are ill there is no reason for anyone to judge. It's already amazing that you support yourself and are following your aspirations.

Remember that we are real people inspired by you and rooting for you!

If you aren't comfortable with it then I guess you need to keep working on stuff to change it, but make sure it's for your own reasons. If the only reason it's an issue for you is the judgement of other people then honestly don't worry about it. Other people judge us for literally every single little thing that we do. Their opinion of you is worth as much as you allow it to be. Don't bother trying to please them. Do things because you actually want to, or feel you should.

In summary - Fuck those people. Do your own thing.

You're doing the sensible thing in your situation, and you have plans and aspirations. I wouldn't judge you for it.

There’s no age limit to staying at home. As long as youre a productive member of society, i think staying at home is fine.

Do you have Lyme disease or “chronic Lyme disease”. If it’s the latter, add me to the list of people who are annoyed with you.

    • What do you mean? It's definitely chronic. Have symptoms 24/7 🙁

Ignore this twat, some people just like to play doctor because it boosts their little egos.
