Normal - just because you like things about your bf's family - or anyone else's family - doesn't mean you have to feel guilty about your own family's short-comings. We don't get to choose the family we are born to, but we get choices later on, thank goodness. Try to accept both your good & bad luck. On the latter - you can't entirely help how you felt about being mistreated earlier, or your dad's current negativity. I'm glad for you that some good things are coming your way. You deserve it.
