i have 4 kids (22 to 10) and a grandkid. I have always been a neatnik. Is it asking for TOO much to ask an adult child (22, 21) to clean up after themselves???? They seem to only have time for the Net, rush out to work, pig out & sleep like the dead. I'm sick & tired of cleaning forever. Isn't it hightime they pitch in. I have help, but they refuse to let the Help clean their rooms. I'm totally embarassed when we have company.

    Stop doing their laundry, cleaning their room, etc.... Stop doing anything that involves cleaning up after them . After a while they will not be able to stand it n make an effort to help u out. Trust me it will hit them when they are looking fir clean underwear and oops!.... There isn't any clean ones because THEY didn't do THEIR laundry!!! They are old enough to do for themselves. Stop treating them like children!!!

    Tell them they either make an effort to stop living like pigs or they dont get a say in who cleans their rooms. It might be their home too but they are abusing it and therefore shouldnt have the right to tell you who does and doesnt clean their rooms, they obviously are incapable of doing it themselves!

    I'll bet if they had to live on their own for a bit, they would change their tune and start cleaning up after themselves...

    You are probably right, but young people are young. You know how it, at least you should. I'd not argue about this and find another solution.

    instead of kill yourself cleaning and dusting the house, let your children clean up their rooms by their own...go out for a movie, for a pizza, to shopping and leave them manage their stuff. when their rooms will smell of shit and their beds full of dirty clothes, they will ask u for help but you will deny it...
