  • Scotland being part of great Britain. Doesn't mean we speak the same Language as England.
Scotland we have 2 official languages Scots and Gaelic.
And Great Britain is not a country. Great Britain is a island that contains 3 counties, Scotland, England, & Wales.
Don't forget that Wales still speaks Welsh. :)

    • Scots is a dialect of English, not a language, which is why anyone who speaks English can understand people like Billy Connolly or Lewis Capaldi, and anyone with an account on this website can understand your comments.

I can't believe i'm having to explain this to another human being.

      • The dialect of Scotland is so different from England's English. I can't understand England's English half the time.

        • Yes, but Scottish people still speak English. As do Americans, Jamaicans, Australians, Canadians, South Africans, New Zealanders etc etc. We have different accents, dialects and vocabulary but it's no different to people speaking Spanish in Spain, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Colombia blah blah blah.
A language is a common parlence spoken by a group of people.
A dialect is a regional difference in vocabulary and expressions.
Huge difference. English is a language. Scots is a dialect. My point stands.
