I never read the books as a kid but loved the films! I only read the books as a 19 yr old, and ever since i listen to the audiobooks every night before bed.. even 5 years later! i love it sooooo much and helps me sleep. dont have a wand but i would buy one if it were carved wood, not the plastic ones! i do have a gryffindor beanie and bath robe!

I think the main aspects of harry potter i enjoy are:
The mysteries the trio solve in each book.. i love a good mystery
Learning about the world and lore (fantasy realism)
Magic! I love magic, fantasy, wizards, mythology and history

there's probably more to it but i understand why others might not like it if they are getting into it for the first time as an adult. my partner isn't a fan, even though he loves fantasy.. he indulges more in dark fantasy in games etc

I recently finished reading the books, after countles rewatches of the film. I am not so obssesed with it that I would go and buy a wand or something, but my YouTube feed is flooded with Harry Potter videos lol.

I feel like Harry Potter became a thing for me because I read it at a time where I could connect with the characters. The characters grew up while I was growing, and it made the story more real for me.
I'm a still big fan of Harry Potter, mostly because I feel like I know the characters and the hole universe in a way that makes it more than a book.
    I sadly don't have a wand though 😅

  • I know I am way over the intended age when it was created, but a lot of adults are way into it and a new generation of children too. There are hugely expensive theme parks dedicating to this still.

I think it was relatively better than a lot of things when it came out but not really today... also keep in mined that the demographic for each book is about the age of Harry in that book so you are probably older than the intended demographic.
