Shit I wouldn't totally trust it if it didn't have a check valve. Some tank water would still get in there. I suppose it probably wouldn't harm you too bad (except maybe if you put chemical products in the tank) but it sounds like it's probably not proper by code. Was it a last resort or something? Like, was there a major obstacle in the way from hooking it to the sink? Or were you just being lazy?

Theres no check valve but there's a ball float and valve in the cistern so no water can backfeed from the toilet.
