I hear music in my head

It is not like remembering music, because it is songs that I do not recognize and I'm not sure they exist. I have experienced hypnagogic hallucinations which are actually pretty normal thing but what I wonder is how can I hallucinate music when I have literally no musical ability at all (meaning, there is no way I could compose it or write it down in any sort of meaningful way). Is this normal?

If you hear it while falling asleep or while sleep deprived that is a pretty common hallucination, though if it's happening out of nowhere that's somewhat out of the ordinary (though not necessarily harmful unless it's causing you problems).

Regarding your question,it's probably like how you can imagine a beautiful image that you might not be able to draw. The brain is often very creative even if you don't have the technical skill or training to replicate the idea you've thought of.

Get a keyboard and experiment. You don't have to be able to read music to be good at playing or composing it. Some people have it naturally. It's a waste not to play an instrument if you have it!
