The "devil" is in all of us. Some of us are honest enough with ourelves-and observant too- to realise that we have plenty minor psychological problems and illogical preoccupations/fixations.
I think you have noticed that yourself(But not only yourself but all society) is "sick" in a way. In a way you may not quite understand. Well, good for you.
It is good to know they existence of your inner "beast" -Irrelevant to relegion though.
