Stuff like that is actually pretty common and if those are the majority of your symptoms you don't really have OCD to a freakish extent at all. I do things like that all the time....the volume on the tv has to be an even number, I count syllables from sentences on my fingers and feel really satisfied if it is in multiples of 5 or 10. I can't stand it if the pillows stick out of the ends of the pillocases, it's my nightly ritual to shake them all back in and it drives my boyfriend nuts sometimes, lol. Everything on my desk and table has to be lined up neatly and symmetrically or it really annoys me. When we're out to dinner all the sugar packets and straw wrappers have to be sitting on a plate...like a bread plate because if they're just sitting on the table I feel very irritated, like it's too cluttered.
.....You need to read more about OCD because your case is actually very mild compared to what it could be, or the way other people suffer from it.
I am the same way. I do things like that all the time. The stereo, the "arranging things", etc. And when I was little and going to school, my mom would pack my lunch, and I would save all the trash (put it back in my lunchbox) and throw it away at home, because my mom packed it for me. Then when I would walk to the trashcan in the lunchroom or classroom, if I walked around it a certain way, I would have to walk back around it the same way. There are many more things that I do, but it would take too long to explain them all. Glad to know we aren't alone. :)
Haha, yeah! I don't think I have OCD, I just think I have some OC tendencies. Luckily I don't have any of the rituals or anything...I think I'm just a bit of a perfectionist. I am kind of a germaphobe though. I wash my hands a lot and I feel really gross touching things in public. I live close to NYC but I hate it because I just feel like there are germs EVERYWHERE. I hate touching things in the city, I feel like people's skin oil and germs are all over the place. I also hate when people hug me and press their face against mine, I feel like they got oil all over me, lol. I can't help it, I just want to go wash my face afterwards!
I have OCD, to a freakish extent, is it Normal?
