That's a very sad view of the world. Believing everyone's misery is their own fault sounds like an excuse never having to help anyone. If you've been treated badly I'm sorry. But don't let that turn you cold, or whoever hurt you will have won.
Even if you really believe that it's not reason to belittle people. Just because someone's weak is no reason not to help them. I'd rather be weak than heartless. What's the point of surviving when you lose your humanity?
