So if your significant other one day beat you to an inch of your life despite your best efforts to stop it, what would you do? If you call the cops, they are gone for three days, then they are back.
Would you pack up all your stuff and move in those 3 days? Where to, with what money? Most people can't drop a few thousand for a place immediately. Stay with a friend? Ok. What about your belongings?
Kill the person? Have fun spending your life in jail.
Life is messy. Think through what you'd actually be able to do if you found yourself in that situation before judging others.
Yes, call the cops, move out, do something. Just sitting there waiting for it to happen again is insane. Literally.
When I was twelve I watched as my father start to beat my brother to an inch of his life. I went to my fathers room, retrieved a twenty two pistol and loaded it cocked it and put it to his head. My brother saved his life because I had every intention of shooting him. It is evil to abuse the weak. It is good to destroy evil.
Some people should die, that's just unconscious knowledge.
-Jane's Addiction
It's funny you bring up Jane's Addiction. Some interesting history here which is tangentially relevent to the topic as it took the real "Jane" a while to leave an abusive relationship.
I agree, I'm not one to sit back but those situations require careful planning. I was responding to Ops judgement of a situation he knows nothing about.
I think sometimes it's necessary to kill someone. If somebody doesn't have the balls to kill they suffer the consequences.
It's also not that hard to get away with murder
I have no sympathy for adults in abusive relationships

Hopefully you never have to experience it.

Not hard to not get caught. Only stupid people get caught.
