Ignore what the guy above said about you being immature and selfish. I used to feel just like you. There will be a time where you will need to work, but if your parents are willing to help you while you go to school then you shouldn't feel ashamed or feel like a bitch. Yeah, getting work experience is always good, but it isn't everything. You ARE working towards having a job and you ARE working towards living a life you love. Your parents want that for you... that is why they are helping you. The most important thing is to make sure you show your gratitude towards them. Let them know you aren't trying to take advantage of the situation and that you ARE working towards being able to take care of yourself.
While you are still living off of your parents, put as much effort you can into those skills that will take you to the job you want to be in. Also, as far as your art goes, start putting your own work on display and gain experience being your own gallery/art conservator. There are many community centers that will let you rent out there space for very cheap! If you don't have enough art to fill the room, gather some other artists to do it with you. Not only will working with them drive you to follow through with the event, but it will also give you a chance to network with people in the art field. And don't make it about the money. Do it for experience... the money will come. Make sure to check into coffee shops too. You don't have to be an amazing artist to get you work hung... and if you are, even better! Much love*
Ignore me - fine, but here's what he said: "...but the (financial) ball is begining to drop with; friends, my parents..." I like your advice.
But there clearly is a financial issue, and to have not felt or acted on any obligation towards contributing to the education you solely benefit from, and that low wage work is beneath you is selfish and conceited.
I have never worked?
