    What's wrong with just being honest and talking to him. If, as you said, he goes for "older guys" the worst he can say is you aren't his type. But, if on the other hand, he does find you interesting, but has been afraid to bring up the subject, thinking you are straight, then you've both been losing out over a miscommunication.

    Why don't you try to introduce the topic gently, like ask him what type of guys he's into. Maybe also let him know you're interested in experimenting. It might get him thinking about you in that way.
