It's normal. I do it all the time, I just haven't acted on it... not to say that I wouldn't act on it, I just haven't been impressed enough by anybody to do more than flirt with them.
I don't know about all this supposed "scientifically proven" stuff but I don't think we're meant to be monogamous either. When other species mate for life, they REALLY stick with that one partner whereas most of us TRY to be monogamous & a good percentage fail miserably.
If monogamy's your thing, stay true to your boyfriend but don't beat yourself up about using the idea of another guy for your little private time pleasures. If it's not, hey... do your thing.
