I have had teachers ranging from awful to great (in fact, I became great friends with a high school teacher of mine who helped me through the worst times in my life).
I will say that there are definitely some pretty bad teachers. I had an absolutely awful one in third grade who seemed to hate kids, so I'm not sure why she became a teacher and taught for 30+ years. She pretty much decided she hated me from the beginning, made up lies about me hitting another classmate, screamed at ME when I was the one that was hit, etc. She was eventually forced to resign due to having so many complaints from parents, I heard.
My kindergarten teacher was an absolute psychotic. She had a world-ending meltdown and sent me to the office because she for some strange reason thought I threatened to kill her, called me a liar and a thief when I went to retrieve something that fell off my desk, would routinely leave the classroom unattended for long periods of time, and was always freaking out about something and insulting us kids. I really hope her ass eventually got fired, and hopefully taken to the nut house where she belongs.
I also had a few horrible teachers in junior high. It seems like some of them were definitely bullies who enjoyed trying to be cruel towards and humiliate kids (when I started my period and bled through my pants, one forced me to stand in front of a good sized crowd of a bunch of other kids while they stared at me and whispered; it was HORRIFIC and she was an evil cunt), and there was also one in high school who was definitely the type who never really outgrew high school and became a teacher so she could go back and relive her "glory days", and try to be "popular" with the kids. She picked favorites (always the popular mean girls) and joined in on their bullying rather than putting a stop to it. Lots of other wannabe "cool" teachers who had never mentally left high school throughout junior high and high school.
Then I had a few who weren't necessarily bad people but sucked at their jobs, some who were just average, some I felt really sorry for because the kids took advantage of them (mostly very young first-year teachers who were way too nice, or in one case), and then I had a few I really liked.
But, there's nothing abnormal or wrong with not having a favorite teacher or not liking any of the ones you had. Everyone's experience is different.
Ohhh, I feel the angst you must have had in those situations. But how you wrote about 'The Absolute Psychotic' and 'The Glory Days Seeker' had me in stitches though. I forgot to mention that after allowing you in his classes, the bastard teacher would have you attending the rest of his class kneeling on the classroom floor.
