I hate the word transgender

I hate the term and catagorize it on the same level as the word retarded. If someone went from male to female or vice versa, just use the gender they are. I don't need to know/ care who you were then, who you are now is all that matters. Albeit, when I'm in a sexual relationship I do have to tell my s/o that I can't produce semen.

i have nothing against transgender people, but( i wouldn't know) if you work so hard to become a different gender, why would you want to be classified as trans.

They probably use the transgender term since they don't consider you the gender you claim to be or transformed into . They may just see you as someone who was one gender and now wants to be another and so you are transgender to them . They have the right to agree with your choice or not and label you based on it . It would be hard to call someone a male or female if the person doesn't see them as one truly .

I can see where you're coming from, but it is an important term to use when communicating a problem similar to yours

Get over it. There has to be a distinguishing term. Enough with all the terms, there are plenty out there.

When people dislike the term used to described themselves its usually due to repressed self loathing.

Learn to love yourself and you may find the word means nothing to you.

It's because they aren't cisgendered. If they were to hook up with someone who thinks they're cis ,but they're not...it could cause alot of problems. The label has to be there. And the people you are interested in has to know. I classify a woman as someone who had a period and a womb. I know the definitions for sex and gender are different. But, you'd be lying if you don't think they tie in together somewhere. Which is why many transgender people get their surgery to change their sex too. But, it's pretty much for aesthetics. I'm not trying to be mean, but there is a reality to this.

I don't hate the word, but when they say transgender female, I think of a real woman. Not a guy dressed like a woman. Seems backwards to me.

Its just a word my friend... Its like saying someone is black, but they are still human.

Well it seems to have lost most of it's meaning now anyway, personally I think the term 'transsexual' is best to use and only needs to be used for medical / personal reasons. You're right, not many people need to know.

    • I feel like the term leaves something left to be desired. That I will never truely be the person I want to be.

It's simply the name of the condition. It doesn't define who you are.
