Yes, I'm aware of the slogan. I think it's absurd. If that is the point of the channel, they might as well record me pooping tomorrow morning and air it the next day as an important part of history. Me pooping tomorrow will technically become history the next day, but I wouldn't recommend it for a history professor's teaching curriculum.
I guess you have to be smart enough to see the history in the making and why it's relevant.
Can you imagine if we had video of any historical event instead of MOSTLY guessing? Guess not. Ice Road Truckers, yes, they do play up some drama but it mostly documents very relevant things. Remember, there was a time when what they did was impossible, then done by horses, then done by smaller machinery now done by them, and also NOW done in part for the oil industry. It's definitely relevant. 100 years from now, would you think things will be he same? Why? They aren't the same as 100 years ago, so it's apparent things will change by then. What will become of the oil industry and oil dependence? What ALL truckers do is reliant on the oil industry. Surely this is absolutely relevant to that, the end of an oil era will demand much information and history. Documentation is nice. They're doing something 'newer' but major and relevant in many ways.

The point is- Ice Trucking and such are not historical events.
The objects and information on Ancient Aliens, Pawn Stars etc are.
If any shows are relevant to the History Channel, it would be the latter- more-so than the former.
Whatever is so important to the future of our children is not relevant to the topic. Documents are vital, but not relevant to a tv channel made to display only history.
You don't see the perilous oil industry and our dependence on fossil fuels? OK. Well you have problems then. Have you heard of the Alaska Pipeline and of oil exploration in Alaska and near the Arctic Circle?
Let's see, would our great grandparents thought the same of events happening in their time, enough to tape them if they had the means?? Would you not value tape of Galileo? Einstein?
You are sitting here saying you appreciate history yet are going on history made up mostly of guesses and theories. If all that was on tape, would you not value that more? Would you not value seeing not only that but the vibe of the world at the time of these happenings?
Just because you're too ignorant to see the value in this documentation now, doesn't mean it isn't relevant.
If it had been documented where exactly that few-hundred year old raft went down, then ol' Shelby wouldn't have to search for it, would he? It's important and it also shows you how easily and quickly facts can be completely lost. An entire floating raft of thousands of logs lost in one single relatively small Louisiana river lost and unknown...hmmmm. And this is only a few generations back.
So, do you always argue your point by insulting people? How is that working for you? Ya know, the not establishing a real point, just getting angry and rambling. Is that making you feel better? Got it off your chest? You wanna, you know, actually discuss and share opinions now? Instead of trying to get under my skin because you don't like my opinions?
