My dad sexually assaulted my daughter and admitted to the courts that he's in love with her. I was left with a suicidal daughter so broken and sad. Now I have ongoing nightmares about him. They only gave him six years in prison and as much as I'd like to move on, the nightmares keep reminding me that he'll be free soon. I'm a Christian, but how do you move on from this or even forgive? Because I'm not sure I have or will

    I went through this when I was younger it just took time and prayer to get through. There is no rationalisation for it and no way to easily just forget it all happened. I'm not sure how he only gets 6yrs for this? I would just keep him away from children until you're sure he is no longer a threat. I would pray for him too because only God can change him. Also trying to forgive him won't come easy so don't force it. Just try to be guided over time to be understanding that not everyone or everything that goes on is right. Things we just have to learn from really

      They gave him only six years because he wouldn't admit to penetration but admitted to other acts and because she was young she used only the words "he touched my back and front"

    Time....Hough he should have been locked up for life for molesting an underage child

      I agree. She was only seven when it started. And I wish I knew so I could have stopped it sooner. It's difficult when grooming is disguised as being a good/involved grandpa.

        These type of people are good manipulators.
        What's important is you took action once you found out. He will slip up again and its on his record now. It's only a matter of time before he's spending the rest of his misrable life in jail.

        Also as someone said, prisoners do not take kindly to child abusers particularly molesters. I believe they have a special nicknamè for them called a "nonce"
