  • You hate the very thing that keeps you alive. Hmmm, interesting. That's like a goat saying, I fucking hate grass man, look at all the other goats just eating grass all the fucking time. GAWD!

    • No, it's actually more like a goat saying: "I fucking hate that I need to have a piece of paper, in order to be able to exchange it for grass."

    • Money does not keep you alive. Food and water, basic necessities like that keep you alive ... MAN created money and we may be dependent upon it in this society but it isn't necessary to survive. Your comparison is weak.

    • Haha you can't eat money. It won't keep you warm, either.

      • Yeah it will, stuff it in your jacket for extra insulation, or use it as tinder to start a fire!

        • You can get water for free out of a lake or stream, and you can keep yourself warm with an animal hide from something that you hunt and then eat - also for free.

A bit extreme, but it's still possible.

The argument that I'm more so interested in is not that money can or can't get you things you need in order to survive, but rather that money does NOT equate to happiness, though our modern society seems to disagree. It's sad.

          • Hey man, all I know is, I've worked my ass off for 21 years in education and I've got the perfect job that pays me a whole bunch of money, I'd say I'm pretty happy.

            • That's great - but is it what you're doing, or the money that is making you happy? Is it the reward of teaching that is fulfilling, or when you look at your students do you see dollar signs?

I bet it's not all about the money. And that's the point. Money isn't what matters, and people need to stop obsessing over it.

              • Money can buy "free time" though, and I think that's what more people are after these days
