I hate marriage and tradition

I think people who are old fashioned should be killed they are slowing down progress. I don't want to be handed out like a piece of property to some ugly ungrateful man who will just abuse me. I think marriage and tradition is old outdated and useless.

For you, perhaps. For others, it makes them happy. Who the fuck are you to tell them what to do to be happy? Bit hypocritical there, aren't ya?

Who do you feel is doing that? Specifically.

Cos you sounded pretty general in your death wish up there.

If it's just the "pressure of society", who gives a fuck? Same if it's individuals you know, however that can be more frustrating what with having to deal with it regularly and personally. That, I could understand to a degree. Not to the point of thinking they should just die, though.

Marriage can be highly over rated if you make a mistake, and choose the wrong person.

First things first when it comes to popping the big question... how will this effect my finances if things go south. If it goes well you are not in a proper position for marriage. Marriges are not supposed to be easy to break off.

I deem the op to be a child who's simply rebelling against "the system" marriage is something that should be respected. But dont worry op someone with that kind of attitude tends to be left alone until the wise up... or die idk.

I am curious as to where OP is located. I can understand OP's attitude if he, or she lives in a place where arranged marriages are practiced, and most people are expected, and even forced to get married.

If OP lives in a modern Western culture then, I think OP is just ranting.

Old fashioned people should all be killed because you think they are slowing progress? Haha, I came on here for some entertaining after dinner reading and isitnormal did not disappoint!

What is it you are progressing towards OP? What does your Utopia look like, once all those people have been killed?

I think marriage is basically just a control mechanism. You're supposed to settle down with a bunch of debt and have kids before you consider if the whole thing is a trap to keep you working.

Unless you and your spouse both have good paying jobs and enjoy being married and raising kids?

Just throwing in another perspective here... Some married people are really happy being married and don't live under a pile of debts.

Or you just have the shittiest life plan on the planet. A mortgage isnt a debt, you won't be under tons of student debt if you thought through the payment plan and the career that the debt was supposed to be for. Marriage is selective you dont have to if you dont want to so dont shit on everyone's cake about it.

A mortgage isn't a debt? Really? Try telling the bank or finance company that if you lose your job and can't make the payments.

You can sell the mortgage back to the bank. You lose the house but you ain't in debt anymore.

  • Not normal that you think people should be killed for believing in certain traditions, but it's normal that you hate it.

Your perspective, while addressing the possible cons of marriage, is still quite linear and one-sided.

Funny though, one big thing that I dislike about some traditionalists is that they act like everything would be perfect if everyone adhered to their cookie-cutter plan.

They don't get that the batter is poorly mixed and loose af, and many of the cookies will become deformed when they're subjected to the heat of the oven.

I also hate how meddlesome extremists of any kind usually are, largely because I'm a libertarian (not modern liberal btw).

Are you asking this from the perspective of an Indian?
(stereotyping a name plate how scandalous of me)
I can see it with that perspective India and these other forced marriage societies sound like shit.

I have necer seen the necessity of marriage! Abolish it! Living together without marriage is better anyway.

Yeah, you have to be suspicious of a deal where you promise how you're going to feel about another person for the rest of your life. I sort of understand commitment ceremonies giving undertakings about how the people will treat each other in the future, but I wouldn't rely on those promises myself.

You must be from a third world country where they arrange their marriages. It sounds like your husband has already placed his order and you don't like the deal. Most countries allow you to choose your mate.

What, third world people can't be fluent in English? I get those "I am Ted from Microsoft and your computer has a virus." calls all of the time. I love screwing with them. By the time I hang up, I am speaking to them with their own accent and mannerisms too, okay.

        • If they're speaking in an Indian accent, that would be a bit different, since Indians tend to be pretty good with English, imo. For a random 3rd worlder online, though, OP seems quite fluent.

Who knows, but OP never said they were from a non-Western country.

Do they arrange marriages in western countries? I don't think so. Not unless the people, who making the arrangements, are from a third world country and simply living in a western country.

Fundamentalist christian & other sects are into arranged marriages, usually between old men and young girls and some cultures have imported the practice into western countries. Either way, it's a very bad idea, I don't care how many people say it works, people used to say slavery worked too.

IDK where you are but where I live marriages are more and more individualized. If anything, less and less of them are traditional. And if they are traditional they're rare.
    Also, killing people isn't normal.

  • Hhhhhh

It's pretty normal to start to despise tradition, but not normal to want to kill these people lol. I hate the idea of marriage personally and just see it as a way to keep the hive mind's "live to reproduce" mindset in motion. But that doesn't mean tradition following people should be killed just because they do things you don't agree with. Just let people do what makes them happy.

I can see where you are coming from (though still don't agree with killing all of them). Yeah a good 70% of tradition is just retarded crap. People often try to force others to follow their beliefs and it's annoying. My family is like that and I hate it, but I still won't have em all killed lol.
