I hate it when my parents enter my room while im voice chatting

So, everytime my parents enter my room, i just mute myself and wait until my parents leave. Even tho my parents told me 100 times that they dont listen to my conversations (They never lied to me but...) i still do that and feel uncomfortable. And i feel like they may think weird stuff about me.

My mother used to listen in to my phone conversations, would also read the notes my friends wrote me in school and has even intercepted my mail before. Needless to say I love, and cherish privacy! It's just plain rude for someone to enter another person's room without knocking. My mother felt very much entitled to read my diary when I was a teenager, and she made no effort to conceal her violations of my privacy, because she felt that as my mother it was her right. I don't really trust my mother, or my sister very much, because I know they share whatever I tell them with each other.

I do love my mother, but I don't have a lot of respect for her. As a rule I don't respect people who violate my trust, and boundaries.

Part of me says “move out ya freeloader” but that would make me a hypocrite, as I to complain about having no privacy from my parents at home.

I use to go on discord and chat whil I worked on a pallot dock. I was the only white guy up there. One day I was on speaker phone which I never did and some guy joined and kept yelling "I fuckin hate n!ggers!" "Those n!ggers are always committing crimes!"

They said daaamn dude wtf. I just said "I dont even know who that is" and they just looked at me sideways. Should have told them I was voice chatting they probably thought it was a friend.

It’s normal to want privacy, some people are embarrassed of their interests. But specifically and only when voice chatting? I don’t voice chat and I still hate it when people enter my room, particularly my dad. My room is where I’m most comfortable, I can escape to it for quiet when I’m overwhelmed. And all of my things are in there- my PC, comfy bed, my pet snake, other familiar things. I generally feel uncomfortable around others so it’s like they are invading my safe place when they come in, it is my room and mine alone.

Oh, maybe I accidentally turned this around to be about me? If that’s how I came off, what I meant was that I relate, and I was elaborating why I do (since people mistakenly think I’m up to no good when I want to be alone). Maybe it helps you to put your thoughts into words too if you have the same feelings. Or helps you to feel better knowing others experience similar things.

I too hate that especially when they interrupt me when I'm on a Zoom meeting to the point where I'm muted.
