I don't want people to stop having sex, I just want people to make it less of a priority for them. I wish people would see bodily pleasures as rewards for accomplishment and not as something they're owed for being fit and healthy human beings.
I'm happy to clear up what I said about getting older. What I meant was that a lot of people get older and go on and on about how they miss their youth and being young and frisky and getting into trouble and doing whatever the heck they wanted without fearing consequence. Some young people don't want to turn into this type of person, so they say they wanna die young, or die as soon as they can't live a completely libertine/hedonistic lifestyle. They only wanna feel good and have fun. Having fun is great, but it shouldn't be ones primary goal. These people are ignoring the rest of the world and focussing only upon their little corner of it.
That is not really what you said in your post. You post did not suggest at all that you believed people should have sex, but find the balance to also live life beyond that. You said that any time you give in to sexual desire you feel like a failure. You also said you wished everyone felt the same as you. You said especially when you had something more important to do, and in that situation I can understand. Maybe you mean "only" but especially sounds like you always feel that way you just feel it even more in those situations.
But if you really think people need to find the balance than you have little to worry about because the vast majority of adults do have sex, and balance it with their lives. This is why society manages to function and is not just one massive orgy. This situation isn't nearly as serious or common as the tone of your post makes it sound.
I think you misunderstand what older people are talking about. They say stull like "if only I was young again" or "youth is wasted on the young" or whatever. But the usual don't mean that they want to be the person they were when they were 20 again. They usually mean they would like to have the youth and energy that they had when they were 20 but the knowledge and experience they have now to go along with it. That way they wouldn't have missed out on experiences and opportunities they could have had but didn't because they didn't know how to go about it. This can refer to a million different situations, some sexually related and others not.
The ironic thing here is, and you may not see this even after I say it, that you think you thinking will allow you to avoid this regret, when it is exactly the type of thinking that leads to it. By passing up on sexually related opportunities, or other fun or interesting opportunities, because you think it is a waste of time or weakness, you could well find yourself in 20 years thinking "I wish I could go back and have that fun experience I passed on because I was just takinf things way too seriously "
Maybe that will happen and maybe it won't, no one knows the future, but it is another angle you may want to look at thing from from time to time.
I hate feeling like a slave to my own bodily urges
