I hate children

They're so bratty, disrepectful and obnoxious. And I'm expected to put up wirh their BS bcs of their age.
The other evening I was coming home (an apartment building) and there were two tween girls waiting for the elevator. I got on after them and put on my mask as we are in a narrow space. It was more about protecting them instead of me, since I'm much taller and the air I breathe out would come over them, not the other way. They immediately exchanged funny looks and one little bitch told the other 'Looks to me like a monkey' while staring at her phone screen to make it look it's about something she's watching there. Unlikely. Must've been about me! Either bcs my mask was black or about my beard they saw before I put it on. Anyway little piece of shit tried to hurt my feelings (and succeeded) for protecting her life?! What a bitch! I know what's advised - don't care about what others think or say but I'm npt pn that level. I'm just getting so much shit during this pandemic especially - for following safety measures I'm sick and tired.

When they got out (on a lower floor) bratty girls couldn't wait to pass the corner to start giggling. Loud.

I. HATE THEM!! I wish (when they grow up - to stay pn the goos side of forum rules) they get.. ahem. hurt by Afghan or whatever migrants who also infect them with some deadly virus so they die. That's the lesson they deserve for disrespecting my act of kindness

Wow. You're not bratty, disrespectful or obnoxious AT ALL.

You're the very image of those spoiled brats I fucking hate.

“It was more about me protecting them”

Doubtful. There’s no way you’re selfless.

Wearing a mask is purely about being selfless though. They don't protect you. Their job is to protect others.

Of course masks protect the wearer, idiot: think about it

True to some extent, but most commonly available masks are a long way from being 100% effective at filtering out airborne droplets in the air being inhaled. Apart from the gaps in the filter being too large to block them completely, there are almost always gaps around the edges, and air will always tend to take the path of least resistance.

Facemasks are much better at collecting the vapour - and any pathogens in it - being exhaled by the wearer.

Operating theatre staff don't wear masks mainly to reduce the chance of them catching something from the patient; they wear masks mainly because it reduces the chance of them infecting the patient on the operating table.

I'm aware masks don't give 100% protection either to the wearer or others but if they are worn correctly, for example with no gaps around the edges and over the nostrils, my understanding is that they give around 80% protection. If masks worn by operating theatre staff protect patients from possible infection, why do you think the same masks wouldn't prevent the spread of COVID in other settings?

I guess you're in the USA, dealing with one of, if not THE highest COVID death rates in the world? So glad I'm elsewhere ....

If somebody only does something “selfless” for the recognition, then it’s not selfless at all.

        Comment Hidden ( show )
    • OK whatever. Does it really matter? I can put it on for my own protection if I wish and that's not a reason to be bullied.

You’re making assumptions so that it seems like the situation favors your opinion. A lot of people twist stories to benefit themselves. You’re not the first one and anyone can see through it.

You wearing your mask should be protecting you already. No need to to get so fucking excited over some young giggling kids. Ffs.

  • So two tween girls were being mean to you, and now you hate every single person under the age of 13 because of that.

    • No I also hate teens. They qualify as children too. I've seen lots of mean kids different ages. Plenty as a kid myself growing up bullied. I know stereotyping's bad, but that's my overall impression

Bratty kids are definitely very annoying, but I definitely wouldn't let something a dumb tween says get to you. The opinions of snot nosed tweens are among the least valuable in the world.

“They're so bratty, disrepectful and obnoxious”

Because small children haven’t been socially conditioned, they’re all ego up to a certain age. Annoying yes, but it’s not by choice.

    Yeah fuck kids.

  • WolfDude

THAT'S why you hate kids? Not because they lack empathy and are basically monsters until their supramarginal gyrus finally develops well enough? Or because you've seen them destroy the bodies/lives of the people stuck dealing with them?

You got called a name and got offended. Get over yourself. Tweens aren't even that bad, yeah they suck a little bit, cause they think they know everything and are constantly riding the edge of being 'old enough' and 'too young' for stuff. But they can at the very least see "Oh, you're in pain" and NOT try to smash that exact spot you're hurting at into oblivion, and laugh at your wails of pain and misery.

I hate young kids. For a plethora of reasons, mostly connected to a lack of empathy and understanding, which can make them absolute callous assholes. And I understand that they can't control it and I get that they need love and nurturing to get there, but I'm just not the one for it. If I have a kid, idk how the poor thing's gonna turn out with my lack of patience for overly shitty behavior.

You let two little girls get the better of you. That's all on you.

If you know you aren't in the wrong then just ignore them.

Why are you letting catty, childish behavior bother you? Stop being so self conscious of that nonsense. It's a waste of time, energy, and emotions.

It sounds like you believe you have no control over your mindset and you have no choice in how you respond to people and events.

People often use that as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for their lives and their actions, but it's just not true.

Yeah, sometimes tweens can be hella annoying, but so can a lot of other people. Rude obnoxious people's behavior says more about them than it does about me, or you, whomever is the object of their laughter. Of course sometimes they're not laughing about any one particular person, but rather everyone, and everything with whom they come in contact. It's best not to take this stuff too seriously.

Are you sure they weren't just looking at something on their phone? Sounds to me like a misunderstanding...

    • Sure, that's how she wanted it to look like. Let's say it was indeed. Always give the benefit of doubt yeah? What about the loud giggles when they left? She had already put her phone in her fickin pocket. Too. much of coincidence..

No one's going to burst out laughing in an elevator with a random stranger. They gave you the courtesy of waiting until they were off the elevator before laughing.

        Comment Hidden ( show )
          -
        • Yeah, they were old enough to realise it's overboard rude to laugh in the face of a random stranger without him giving them an actual reason.

  • Somenormie

I hate them too but I get over the annoying. It's life and I don't think you have embraced it.

It's like getting annoyed by someone in your workplace or getting annoyed by someone in your house.

All of this is common and nothing new.

If you choose to pay attention to random kids and decide to allow their words to affect your state of mind, then you're the one with the problem.

Half of the world's population is of below-average intelligence. The average kid is dumber than the average adult. Kids in groups always sink to the lowest common denominator. Stupid people do and say stupid shit.

You can't change those facts, but you can change how you respond to behaviour that's explained by them.

Yeah this is perfectly normal. If I were you I would’ve just slapped the shit out of them so I’m proud of you for the tolerance. Especially since they were kind of making fun of your appearance, and wearing a mask is somewhat a necessity in these times.
