I hate begging

I hate it whenever people beg for my money. It pisses me off because these people are bothering me. I'm sure 5% of them really need the money because they are retarded or disabled, but most of them are taking the money for drugs or alcohol, or just because they think people are chumps. Most beggars are total losers who don't want to earn an honest living like the rest of us, and I don't want them within 100 yards of me. I want to tell these people to fuck off and to get the hell away from me, but I'm afraid they are going to beat the crap out of me and take my money. Is this normal?

  • Ask them if they can swipe your debit card.

  • A lot of homeless people have mental illnesses and cannot fit into a "normal" society like the rest of us. Treating them negatively could push them over the edge and they could end up hurting you.

I think it's best to politely tell them you don't have anything to give, if you don't want to give them a handout. If it bothers you so much that they even exist, you should donate money or your time to your local soup kitchen or homeless shelters. Don't just complain about it, get proactive and do something to fix it.

  • yes

it's a good idea that you have, not to say anything because they just might hurt you.

once a bum asked me for a cig. i told him i didn't smoke. hours later, i lit up, and the creep approached me ranting and raving about how he just got out of jail and he only wanted a smoke. scared the crap out of me. i just turned around and ran into a store to get away.

some people are lazy and disgusting. don't give away your honest hard earned money to those creeps.

    • This is why you shouldn't smoke and you shouldn't lie.

  • I like how you assume that most of them are just junkies and losers.

  • With exceptions, most people are exactly where they want to be in life. Being penniless is uncomfortable, I'm sure, but I've tried to help a few such people, and they don't take care of what they have and end up broke and begging where they started. Again, not always the case.

  • Now, I agree with your thoughts. I however think someone should help the homeless, so they don't have to bother us. Their dangerous and we shouldn't have to be afraid of them or feel inclined to help them just because no one else will. This isn't your fault and it's a normal feeling.

  • I agree with you 100%. It is so frustrating! Around here, it's always the SAME people every day! Most of them are in "good" health and can work for a living but they simply choose not to. So now when I walk by, I whip out my cell phone and pretend to talk on it. That way I don't have to talk to them.

  • If you don't want to give them anything, don't. But don't yell at them. If I were in a city that had a lot of homeless people laying about the streets, I might carry half a sandwich around and give them that. That's just me though.
