Well, I don't think disliking compliments to that level is normal. I dislike when they're exaggerated and people just go over and over with them, like okay, yeah, I got it. But if it's a nice compliment from someone, I'd happily appreciated. It's just a compliment.
Wouldn't you like people to appreciate your compliments when you give it to them?
