I get a sinking feeling in my chest when I go out?

  • This is really good advice.

If you are still able to push through it and go out, you must keep doing it until you feel more comfortable. It will get easier in time.

If you stay inside to avoid the fear then you will end up being unable to leave your home. Someone I used to know and love very much stopped going out about 15 years ago. Now he can't even open his curtains so never sees sunlight, and he stopped washing because his boiler broke and he was too afraid to open the door to the repair man. I think his fronthall way is piled high with rubbish bags because that's all you can see through his letterbox. I'm assuming it's because he's too afraid to take the bins out.

When we talk on the phone he has nothing to say because he does nothing and sees no one. It's all very sad.
